Welcome to my website. My name is Eric Levinson and I have been collecting and writing about knives for over 35 years. I created this website for one sole purpose; to create a Worldwide Collectors Association. A collector’s only association!

Throughout my collecting years there seemed to be a “Maker’s Market”. Only makers, associations, guilds, publications and/or dealers determined which makers were “hot”. Not to question any maker’s capabilities, this seemed self serving.

I see the “Mega Collectors” who appear on the scene and amass huge collections in unrealistically short periods of time. The majority of them seem to vanish as quickly as they came, only to invest in some other venue. For them gratification is simply brandishing the power of their great wealth and stature.

Haven’t you ever wondered how their orders received priority over yours?

Why does the death of a significant maker usually lead to the devaluation of their work?

Do you think this adds value to your collection? I think not!

This is unparalleled in any other venue!

A COLLECTOR BASED MARKET MUST DETERMINE THE VALUE OF A MAKER’S WORK.

This protocol would provide collectors with established investment guidelines.

Although I very much enjoy writing articles and columns I stopped submitting them for publication. One reason being that my submissions only reached already established collectors and did not attract very many new ones.

Another reason is that my submissions had somehow become very “political”.

There are few events where collectors are invited to meet other collectors. The established guilds and associations bestow accolades on their own members. Most shows have no events promoting collector interaction. Juries include few if any collectors. The publications do not do articles profiling collectors.

Is there an “unwritten restriction” on promoting collector contact?

Why is there no directory of collectors?

(You might be impressed by the curriculum vitae of your fellow collectors.)

Have you ever mentioned to someone that you are a knife collector and they respond “You collect what!?” I have!

Should we remain in the closet? I think not!

These are solely my observations, experiences and opinions. They are also my motivation for creating this website. I invite you to communicate and interact with other collectors worldwide.
